My son has been wearing BG3.0's for 11 months and we still LOVE them! He's 18 months old now, weighs 27 pounds and wears them almost exclusively. We use a Huggies Overnight diaper at night. BG has saved us so much money and I only wish I found out about them 6 months earlier when my son was born. I bought 12 and I wash them every other day. I run them through a rinse cycle, then wash them in hot water with 1/4 cup of regular laundry detergent and then another rinse cycle. I will definitely use these again on our next child!

I LOVE these diapers! I tried the prefolds with diaper covers and they were just too bulky. I started using these when my son's cord fell off at 3 weeks. He is now 10 weeks and I cannot say enough good things about these diapers. He is a heavy wetter and has to be changed every three hours. I do use a disposable at night for this reason. These diapers DO NOT stain either. I use to wash them out after every change but found out I don't have too. I wash them about every other day and have never had a stain or odor left behind. The special detergent is kind of expensive ($12 for a 32 load bottle) but you only use 1/4 of the recommended 1/4 cup per load so it does last awhile. I am very excited about using these diapers and tell everyone about them. CD's have come a long way and people are always surprised with them. I have three other children and I wish I had used these with them. These save money which is great and also the environment. Love the colors too. They don't fade and you don't have to worry about color transfers in the wash either! Stephanie Paul

I have tried every diaper out there it seems. When my son was newborn BG was just a little too big. So I went with kissaluvs 0s. Kissaluvs were pretty good too, but I felt much more comfortable with a fleece liner to help keep him dry. Bum Genius is so easy to use, and never leaked on me once. I'm extremely satisfied with these and recommend them to everyone. So far I can even use them over night. Amazing product, very well made, and thought out. Love the new colors, too!

I absolutely LOVE Bum Genius 3.0! They are by far the best cloth diaper I have ever tried! My daughter can wear one for 4 hours before needing a change (unless of course she poops), her bum stays dry and there are never any leaks, even overnight! 5 stars for sure!!

We just got 2 of these and want many more. The bumGenius 3.0 is soooo easy and has a wonderful, very adjustable fit. I usually change my daughter at least once an hour or her diaper leaks, but I left the first one on for almost 3 to kind of 'test it out' and I am sure that I could have left it on longer with no problems. In the past I have to admit I have also switched her into a disposable when we leave the house, but we these I'm sure we can handle cloth diapering away from home.

My son is almost a year old now and I have been using cloth diapers almost exclusively the whole time. I began with gdiapers, but we have cast iron pipes and they were getting clogged. I used wahm covers and prefolds for a little while, then went to fuzzi bunz. Those worked well until recently when my son has gotten wiggly! Now that I only have a few seconds to change his diaper, I have switched to bumgenius diapers. I really wish I had bought some sooner because I am enjoying the fit, the capacity to absorb, and the ease of laundering. His caregivers at day care also prefer them because they go on and off just like disposables. I preferred snaps to velcro for a long time but these tabs stay securely put during washing and drying. I was also THRILLED to find bumgenius at an area Target! Woo hoo! I feel confident that these diapers are going to "go the distance" from now until potty training! Now I know why they are the #1 seller.

We purchased bumGenius 3.0 One-Size Cloth Diapers after a lot of research into which cloth diapers would work best for us and our lifestyle. Basically, we didn't want to use disposables because of the negative environmental impact but we also didn't want cloth diapering to be difficult or inconvenient. You see, we're first time parents, and we've got enough challenges to face without having to "worry" about cloth diapers. Well, I'd say mission accomplished. We have a 5 week old and have been using these diapers almost since the very beginning. They fit our 7 lb baby great, they wash easily without rinsing, and they look cute too. We have two dozen diapers and wash them every other day with Allen's Naturals detergent (recommended). I've also put the inserts out in the sun to keep them bright white and that works great too. Read the forums on Cotton Babies, follow the instructions, and you'll be very happy.

I've been using these diapers for nearly 5 months now, since my daughter was 1 month old, and I really like them. My mother can't believe how far cloth diapers have come since I was wearing them! They are holding up well. I've never once had a poop "blowout," although I seem to have one every time we use a disposable for some reason. Occasional wicking, but that can be remedied with extra inserts. The one-size insert is a little bulky when snapped down to a smaller size, but that is my only complaint. I'm ordering more!

I love bumgenius. I have tried many different cloth diapers and these are by far the best. Since my daughter is such a heavy wetter she tends to leak at night but I just put a diaper cover on and that takes care of that. We have been using these for almost a year now and I wouldn't use anything else.

How many diapers do I need?
If you are using bumGenius One-Size exclusively, we recommend a minimum of 24 diapers. If you are using the All-In-Ones, we recommend approximately twelve diapers per size. This may vary based on your child's wetting habits. Remember, wash at least every other day and rotate your stash evenly.
How do I use my bumGenius One-Size Cloth Diapers?
Adjust the diaper sizing by choosing the right snap setting on the front of the diaper.
- Your diaper arrives snapped down to the "small" setting, the bottom row of snaps.
- To use the "medium" setting, unsnap the diaper and resnap on the second row of snaps.
To use the diaper on the "large" setting, fully unsnap the front of the diaper.
HELPFUL HINT: For overnight use, consider stuffing with two inserts and setting the diaper to be one size larger than you would for daytime use.
Adjust the insert sizing by choosing the right snap setting on the insert.
- To use the insert as a "small", snap the insert down to the bottom snap socket. Little boys tend to do well with the folded part towards the front of the diaper while little girls may do better with it towards the back.
- To use the insert as a "medium", snap the insert down to the middle snap socket.
- To use the insert as a "large", just leave it completely unsnapped.
- Put the insert in your diaper. Hold the insert in one hand and place inside the slot (located under the protective flap). Align the front edge of the insert with the top edge of the velcro strip. Using one hand to hold the front of the insert in place, stretch the diaper and smooth the insert flat as you pull your other hand out of the diaper.
HELPFUL HINT: Many parents prefer to pre-stuff their diapers at the end of their washing routine.
Put the diaper on your baby. bumGenius One-Size Cloth Diapers go on just like a disposable diaper.
How can I tell if the diaper is adjusted to fit my baby properly?
To observe fit, pick up your baby’s legs after putting the diaper on and observe how it fits around the legs and bottom. Is it snug? If you can see “air” between the diaper and their skin, then you need to refine the fit. Trying a smaller snap setting and fasten the tabs snugly. When you child stands up, notice how the insert or soaker is positioned relative to the back elastic. If the insert or soaker is higher than the back elastic, lay your child down, release the tabs, pull the diaper slightly towards the front and refasten the tabs. If you notice that the front of the diaper is positioned low over your baby's thighs or that it is difficult to fasten the diaper around your baby's waist, try using a larger snap setting. This will increase the rise of the diaper and improve overall fit. Remember, babies change shape frequently as they grow up. You may have times when your relatively young baby is using their one-size diapers on the largest setting. The same child may be on the medium setting several months later due to increased mobility.
How do I wash my new diapers?
For bumGenius 3.0
- Wash once in cold water with no more than 1/4 (high efficiency machines) to 1/2 (top loading, regular machines) of the detergent's recommened amount per load.
- Wash once in hot (up to 120 degrees) water with no more than 1/4 (high efficiency machines) to 1/2 (top loading, regular machines) of the detergent's recommened amount per load. Optionally (and only occasionally), add 1/4 cup of bleach to this cycle.
- Add an extra rinse to remove any lingering detergent in the diapers.
Tumble dry on the warm setting.
What detergent can I use?
You should only use detergents that are free of dyes, enzymes, perfumes, whiteners and brighteners. Using detergents containing these ingredients will cause damage to your diaper including elastic failure and leaking.
What should I avoid?
Do not use extra additives in your wash (like baking soda or vinegar). These ingredients are unnecessary and will cause problems in your diapers. Do not use fabric softeners.
My tabs aren't as sticky as they used to be. How can I solve this problem?
Wash your diaper and then dry it in the dryer on warm heat. Be sure to let the diaper cool completely before using. This causes the hooks to recontract and become "sticky" again.
Are diaper rash creams ok to use with bumGenius?
Diaper rashes should be treated according to your physician's recommendations. If you need to use a rash cream, you should use a stay-dry liner or a piece of fleece between your baby's bottom and the diaper to prevent the cream from transferring onto the diapers.
How can I prevent diaper leakage?
The number one cause of leakage is a saturated diaper that just needs to be changed. Any diaper will leak once full. If your baby is having problems with leaks, check this first. 99% of the time, additional absorbency solves leakage problems. If that doesn't work, we've included some other trouble-shooting points below.
Did you prewash?
First of all, make sure that you washed everything at least once before using. There can be residue left on the fabric from the production process that can cause leakage.
Is the insert flat?
Make sure that the insert is FLAT when you put the diaper on your baby. If it is twisted or wadded up, this can cause leakage. If your baby's build causes the insert to bunch up, consider using a Hemp Diaper Doubler on top of your insert. This helps to prevent the wadding that can occur with some builds.
Is the wetness at the top edge of the diaper?
This issue has been resolved with the new bumGenius 3.0 One-Size diapers. Our unique extra layer of waterproof material across the inside front of the diaper prevents leaking at the top of the diaper. bumGenius 3.0 One-Size diapers are the first and only diapers with this innovative feature.
If you have bumGenius 2.0 One-Size diapers and the wetness is at the top edge of the diaper, make sure that the insert isn’t pushing the lining fabric up against your baby’s clothing. The insert should be placed approximately one inch below the top edge of the diaper. The top edge of the diaper should be flat against your baby with the soft fabric against your baby’s belly.
Is the wetness at the legs or the tabs?
If the diaper is leaking from the tabs or the legs, change the diaper and remove the insert. If it is saturated then your baby definitely needs a more absorbent insert or a more frequent diaper change. If the insert isn’t saturated, then the diaper may not be adjusted to fit your child properly or, if you are using a detergent that contains additives, your diapers may also have detergent buildup which can cause leakage. Do not use contoured inserts with bumGenius One-Size Cloth Diapers.
